How This AS Roma Man Can Help Arsenal Change Their Fortunes

Arsenal are seeking a new technical director and have their sights on AS Roma sporting director Monchi, it has been claimed.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat would be leaving the club in February.

According to the Guardian, Monchi is one of the targets for Arsenal, who are carefully looking at potential candidates for the soon-to-depart Mislintat.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery had previously worked with Monchi during his time at Sevilla and shares a healthy relationship with him.

Why Monchi would be a good fit for Arsenal

Monchi had a key role with Sevilla, recruiting the likes of Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas, among other high-profile names, before the players were sold for big profits.

Emery and Monchi enjoyed great success working side by side at Sevilla, winning the Europa League three times in succession.

After sixteen years at Sevilla, Monchi left after Emery’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain and has continued to make his presence felt at AS Roma.

The Italian side made it to semi-finals of the previous season’s Champions League, a year after Monchi was appointed by them, and he played a key role in the transfer window.

On the club’s links with Monchi, Emery said: “I worked very well with him in Sevilla for three and a half years and my relationship with him is good.”

“I can say to you only that he is a good person and a good professional. It’s not my issue. If the club decided to sign one sporting director, then I will agree with them.”

Arsenal are having a busy time on and off the pitch, with quite a bit of pressure on Emery to deliver successful results at the club with the apparent lack of financial muscle.

Owing to the injury to the likes of Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding, the Spaniard has a depleted side for the second half of the on-going campaign.

The north London outfit are still pursuing some bargain deals this month, with a wide player and a central defender likely to be on their agenda.

The Gunners are in a transition phase, and someone like Monchi, who has experience of who to target for the right style under Emery, would be a big coup.

Arsenal don’t have much money to spend, but because of Monchi’s pedigree in the transfer market, the Gunners can hopefully get more from player sales as that’s been on of Monchi’s strengths at his previous clubs.

Woah! Im really enjoying the view of this blog
