Henderson to Start: Predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup vs Manchester City

Liverpool take on Manchester City late tonight in a game that could very well decide the fate of the Premier League title even though there is still some way to go.

A win for the Reds would give them a nice cushion to work with but if the Sky Blues win, we could very well have an interesting few months coming up.

Liverpool are in the ascendency in the league for the first time under Jürgen Klopp and it’ll be interesting to see how they react to that title.

Still unbeaten in the league, the Reds have managed to add the attacking mojo to their game in recent weeks that many felt was missing in the first few months of the season even though they were picking up the wins.

City, on the other hand, have bounced back well after back to back defeats and looked impressive in their win against Southampton.

Liverpool team news

James Milner could return to the squad after he trained with the Reds on Wednesday. He still might have to be assessed before the game, though.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup

Defence

The defence has been rock solid for Liverpool this season and it’d be surprising if Klopp made any changes in the biggest game of the season.

Alisson should line-up in goal and he could have his busiest evening in the league of City thrown everything to win the game.

At the back, Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren will have to be at the top of their game against the crafty Manchester City attack.

Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will have a lot of work to do as City focus their attacks from the wider areas. Alexander-Arnold had a shaky start against Arsenal and cannot afford a similar game against City.

Midfield

Another key area and we expect Klopp to revert to a three-man midfield simply because of how good Manchester City are.

Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum are likely to start, and Klopp could even throw Jordan Henderson back in just to add another layer of security instead of going with a 4-2-3-1.

Attack

Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to miss out even though he has been outstanding of late. The attacking trio is likely to be Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.

Mane – Firmino – Salah

Henderson – Fabinho – Wijnaldum

Robertson – Van Dijk – Lovren – TAA
