Gray and Iheanacho Start: Predicted Leicester City Lineup vs Newport County

Leicester City will look to continue their good form when they take on Newport County in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Foxes have won three out of their last four matches, including wins over Premier League top four sides Chelsea and Manchester City, and will hope to proceed to the next round.

Leicester City team news

Claude Puel does not have any fresh injuries to worry about this weekend. Matty James and Daniel Amartey continue to remain on the sidelines.

Predicted Leicester City lineup vs Newport

Defence

Ricardo Pereira has done a good job in recent weeks, but could be given a breather with Puel having one eye on the important game against Southampton next week.

The Portuguese might be replaced with Danny Simpson in the right position. Ben Chilwell could make way for Christian Fuchs on the opposite flank.

In central defence, Wes Morgan could be introduced in place of Jonny Evans. The veteran defender was Leicester’s number one choice during the first few months of the season, but his progress was halted after a short injury layoff. He will be partnered by Caglar Soyuncu at the heart of the Leicester City backline.

And in goal, Danny Ward will come in for Kasper Schmeichel. The former Liverpool ‘keeper has featured in cup games so far this season.

Midfield

Puel could opt for the highly experienced Vicente Iborra in central midfield. The Spaniard will mainly operate as the holding midfielder, who will be tasked with the responsibility of providing the cover for the backline.

Iborra will be partnered by the duo of Hamza Choudhury and Adrien Silva, who will replace Nampalys Mendy at the base of Leicester’s 4-1-2-3. Choudhury, on the other hand, will look to continue his good form.

Attack

Demarai Gray could get a chance to impress on the left wing. The agile winger hasn’t been consistent this season but a strong performance against Newport could help him gain some much-needed confidence.

Other changes in the attack could include the introduction of Kelechi Iheanacho, who might replace Jamie Vardy as the central striker while Marc Albrighton is likely to retain his place on the right flank.
