At Sixes and Sevens: Tottenham Hotspur Players Rated In Their 1-3 Defeat To Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a massive upset last evening as an improved second-half performance from Wolverhampton Wanderers saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s men come from a goal behind to secure a 3:1 win against the Lilywhites.

Here are the Spurs players rated in their disappointing defeat to Wolves.

Hugo Lloris (6.5/10): Had no chance to save either of the first two goals Wolves scored but will definitely be disappointed to have conceded three goals this evening, despite Wolves managing just four shots on target.

Kieran Trippier (3/10): Poor positioning, lack of awareness and some whimsical defending – Kieran Trippier was by far the worst player on the pitch as he struggled to cope with Wolves’ added pressure in the second half.

Toby Alderweireld (6.5/10): Made some decent interventions and played a key role in the build-up, attempting 76 passes with an accuracy of 96%. But, the Belgian failed to stop the dynamic Wolves attack, especially in the second half and looked jaded as the game progressed.

Davinson Sanchez (6/10): Looked out of touch for the most part of the game and was fairly culpable for Wolves’ equalizer as he failed to mark Willy Boly.

Ben Davies (5.5/10): Not as poor as Trippier but still struggled to provide any solidity to the backline. Some reckless challenges didn’t help either as the Welshman was rightly given a yellow early on in the game.

Moussa Sissoko (6.5/10): Covered for Trippier rather well as the former Burnley fullback exposed the Tottenham defence more than once. However, Sissoko was untidy with his overall ball control as he often lost possession or took awful first touches.

Harry Winks (6/10): Did well to dictate the tempo in the first half but some weak defending in the second, allowed the opposition to initiate a flurry of attacks, which cost his side dearly at the end.

Christian Eriksen (6/10): He was unlucky not to score in the first half, hitting the bar in the 20th minute. However, the Danish international struggled to perform after the restart, often lacking support from teammates and was completely isolated by the Wolves midfielders.

Dele Alli (6/10): It was a difficult return for Alli, who hardly managed to make any difference and was rightfully replaced just eight minutes after the hour mark.

Son Heung-Min (7/10): He was Tottenham’s main attacking spark in the first half as the Lilywhites dominated throughout the first 45 minutes. But, the South Korean international was often stopped in his tracks in the second half by a rejuvenated Wolves defence.

Harry Kane (7.5/10): Scored a beauty with a stunning curling effort from outside the box to give Tottenham the lead in the first half. However, he terribly lacked service afterwards even though he did his best to create chances for himself.

Substitutes

Lucas Moura (7/10): Should have been introduced earlier as the Brazilian added some much-needed flair in the attack after replacing Alli in the 68th minute.
