Liverpool eyeing a swoop for Monchengladbach star: A good fit under Klopp

According to Daily Star, Liverpool are eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard in the upcoming transfer window.

The Belgian international has been one of the best performing players in the Bundesliga this season and a return to Premier League could be on the cards after he failed to break into Chelsea.

Liverpool have emerged as a potential suitor but is he really an ideal target for Jurgen Klopp’s men?

Thorgan Hazard: Player profile

Famously known as the younger brother of Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard, Thorgan initially moved to Borussia Monchengladbach during the summer of 2014 in a season-long loan deal.

But, his contract was soon made permanent by the Foals, thanks to a fairly decent debut campaign in the Bundesliga.

In his spell at Gladbach, Hazard has netted 44 goals whilst mustering 39 assists in 163 matches. But, the 25-year-old’s performances have been at another level this season as Hazard has been involved in 15 league goals so far, which is almost half of what Gladbach have managed.

Hazard’s pace and tenacity have quickly made him a key player under Gladbach manager Dieter Hecking.

Aside from his sheer pace down the flanks, Hazard has been also impressive in terms of his overall creativity, having provided 2.7 key passes per game while a tally of 2.5 attempts per game shows his willingness to find the back of the net.

Thorgan Hazard -A good fit under Jurgen Klopp

Although Liverpool may boast the services of one of the fiercest attacking setup in Europe, their strength in depth is lacking, with Xherdan Shaqiri being the only reliable backup option for coach Jurgen Klopp.

Therefore, the acquisition of a new attacker could be imperative, especially with Roberto Firmino not playing at the top of his game this season.

Hazard, in that regard, could be a suitable target given the fact that his pace and tenacity is ideal for Klopp’s counter-attacking philosophy.

The Belgian international has evolved into a more complete attacker under Hecking this season, having averaged over 2.5 key passes, shots and dribbles per game – which are exceptional statistics.

And considering his excellent productivity in front of goal, he would serve as an excellent signing to beef up the attack in January.
