Inter Milan star and Manchester United target Ivan Perisic has admitted that he has ambitions to play in the Premier League.
The 29-year old told a press conference: “I have always said that [playing in the Premier League] is my dream.
“In football everything is possible, we will see in the future. Now, I’m focusing on Inter.”
This has put a host of English clubs on red alert with Starsport claiming that Manchester United could be frontrunners with Jose Mourinho still interested in the Croatian international.
It is believed that Perisic will be allowed to leave Inter, which could spark a transfer battle in the upcoming transfer window.
But will he be a smart addition to Manchester United?
Perisic is an aggressive attacker, who is known for his flair in the final third. He is a very direct winger and loves to attack whenever he gets the ball and his plus exquisite control on the ball help him in that regard.
Much like Marco Reus, Perisic’s ability to breach the opposition with his movement and clever runs in behind the defence is what make him one of the most feared attackers in the Serie A.
In addition, the 29-year old is known for his exceptional shooting prowess. He has already averaged nearly three shots per game and his willingness to find the back of the net can be a boon for any team in the world.
Although Perisic’s game has evolved in recent years as he has relied less on dribbling past defenders, he has still attempted 1.7 dribbles per game this season.
The winger’s tally of 1.6 key passes per game is also indicative of his ability to not just provide the offensive flair but also to create chances in the final third.
Most importantly, Perisic is a seasoned attacker who has been playing at the highest level for many years now, having made over 100 appearances each in both German and Italian top flight.
His impressive skillset could certainly make him a tailor-made fit in the English top flight.
Manchester United, in particular, will be an attractive destination for the Croatian international as the Red Devils have lacked the offensive firepower under Mourinho and could offer Perisic with regular opportunities.
Mourinho’s side will welcome someone like Perisic, who has a vast experience in top-flight football and can make an instant impact at Old Trafford.
His ability to create chances as well as score goals could be a boon for the Red Devils who have seen most of their attackers underperform this season.
Thus, a move for Ivan Perisic certainly makes sense for as they aim for a swift recovery in the second half of the campaign.
