Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a swoop for Mexican goal-machine: Good value for money

After an impressive World Cup, Mexico star Hirving Lozano has started the season well which has seen him attract a few clubs if reports are to be believed. Last week, the Mirror claimed that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the talented North American.

Tottenham and PSV Eindhoven, Lozano’s current club, are in the same Champions League group and reportedly, the Tottenham scouts have liked what they’ve seen so far.

Lozano could be sold for a meagre price of £25m and seems like the ideal target for Spurs who not only need more depth but are also targeting players who aren’t expensive owing to the club’s current situation with the new stadium.

Lozano – Factfile

Lozano moved to PSV from Pachuca in the summer of 2017 for a fee of €8 million and has developed pretty well with the Dutch side. In his first full season with the club, he mustered 17 goals in 29 appearances as PSV won the title.

PSV have started this season in top gear as well, and Lozano is one of the reasons why. The 23-year old has already scored seven goals in eight league appearances. What is even more intriguing is the goals have come from the wider areas.

Lozano’s passing can improve, but if Spurs are looking for a player who can score a few goals and provide that spark up front, Lozano is a perfect target.

Lozano to Tottenham – Good Value For Money

Lozano’s ability to find the back of the net shows that he can take some of the pressure off Harry Kane’s shoulders. Although he isn’t a centre-forward, he is versatile and is showing that this season.

Four of Lozano’s goals have come when he has played on the left wing and the other four have come from the right, so he’s perhaps a manager’s dream as he can play on either side.

He consistently gets into right positions and has averaged 3.1 shots per game so far this season. Tottenham have good depth but the last weeks have shown that the squad can get better.

To compete with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City on the pitch, Spurs will have to make smart signings as they can’t match the sides in spending money.

Considering how cheap Lozano’s price tag is, Tottenham will have to act quickly when the transfer window reopens as a lot of clubs will want the Mexican.
