West Ham United player ratings vs Everton: Yarmolenko the star of the show

Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United are finally off the mark this season. A first-half brace from Andriy Yarmolenko set the tone for the Hammers victory as a sweet striker from Gylfi Sigurdsson early in the second half only proved to be a consolation for Everton.

Marko Arnautovic added a third in the 60th minute to put the game beyond the hosts, who lost their first game of the season.

Pellegrini will be happy after his squad responded well following four consecutive losses. Here are the West Ham player ratings:

Lukasz Fabianski (7)

With three crucial saves and many other claims, Fabianski was solid at the back for West Ham and deserved to be on the winning side.

Pablo Zabaleta (7)

Gave the likes of Calvert-Lewin and Bernard no time on the ball and also registered five clearances on a rather comfortable night for the Argentine.

Issa Diop (8)

In what was probably his best game for the English side, Diop had a few nervy nervous moments but made three tackles, two interceptions, three clearances and two blocks and was crucial in West Ham registering their first win of the season.

Fabian Balbuena (6):

Could have done better to stop Sigurdsson’s goal and was also caught out at the back on a couple of occasions, but did well to help his side retain their lead.

Arthur Masuaku (7)

Was a menace on the flank. Did well to sit back and defend in the second half to see out of the game.

Pedro Obiang (8)

Did almost everything to perfection, winning tackles, playing defence-breaking passes and also picking up an assist on his return to the first team.

Mark Noble (7)

Showed good energy but was far too wayward with his passing, often inviting pressure at the middle of the park.

Declan Rice (8)

With five tackles and three clearances, the youngster was crucial in keeping the Everton attack in check.

Felipe Anderson (6)

Showed his pace on a couple of occasions but did not make enough of an impact on the game to trouble the hosts.

Andriy Yarmolenko (9)

Converted an easy chance early in the game and also took the next one extremely well to beat Pickford. Can improve in terms of his work-rate and discipline, though.

Marko Arnautovic (8)

His unselfish play gave Yarmolenko his first goal and some smart combination with Obiang allowed him to find the back of the net as well. Was full of energy until he was subbed off with a muscle strain.

Substitutes

Michail Antonio (5)

Came on at the hour mark and came close to testing Pickford on a couple of occasions.

Carlos Sanchez (5)

Helped keep the ball moving and stopped Everton from pushing forward.

Robert Snodgrass (N/A)

I wish to read more things about it!
