Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has come to rescue under-fire Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. Mourinho’s side have lost their last two Premier League games (which were against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur) and there is no denying that he is apparently under immense pressure.
Mourinho has won the Europa League and League Cup in his two years at the Old Trafford, but he is in a predicament regarding his future at the red half of Manchester due to his team’s current run of form. After his side’s defeat at the hands of Spurs last weekend, the Portuguese demanded more respect from the journalists.
However, Guardiola has defended his arch-rival and has stated that he has never doubted the quality of a proven winner like Mourinho. Besides, he also claimed that the media lack the ideas about the whole picture and only players are capable of judging the managers.
In a press conference, the former Bayern Munich manager said: “Of course we are judged for the titles we get. If you have titles you can work, we have work. But I try not to judge [other] managers only on that. The history and what Jose did in all the places he’s worked… hats off.” The Red Devils are due to lock horns with Burnley tomorrow and the result could potentially decide Mourinho’s future.
