Just six days before the World Cup, West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini tore his ACL in his right knee and was ruled out of the grandest football competition. He was set to play a key role for the Argentine national football team, but his injury changed the scenery completely.
The supporters of Argentina as well as West Ham United fans were absolutely shattered by the news of the long-term injury of the creative midfielder. Lanzini’s injury is monitored by world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr Ramon Cugat and he underwent a knee surgery on 18th June.
Although the 25-year-old is still miles away from regaining fitness and is expected to miss most of the ongoing campaign, he is hopeful of featuring at some point. He is back at the Rush Green training ground and has returned to light training at the moment, which is a positive sign.
The Hammers are apparently missing someone as productive in the final third as Lanzini and there is no denying that. Under the tutelage of their new manager Manuel Pellegrini, the London based outfit have lost all of their Premier League games so far and are desperate to open their account.
