Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira was substituted at the half-time of Uruguay’s clash against Mexico and he was pictured with an ice pack covering his left leg. Uruguay registered a convincing 4-1 victory over Ricardo Ferretti’s entourage, but their star midfielder Torreira was replaced by Christian Stuani in the second-half.
Apparently, Torreira looked uncomfortable while being on the bench in the second-half. Signed from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window for a reported transfer fee of £26m, Torreira is unarguably one of the crucial assets on the books of the north London outfit. However, he hasn’t found a place in the starting line-up yet.
The 22-year-old has been adapting himself to the tactical nous of Unai Emery. He dazzled against Cardiff City prior to the international break. Torreira has seamlessly eased his way into the first-team of the Gunners, although his best days are ahead of him. The central midfielder arrived lately after his endeavours with his national side in the World Cup.
He has made four substitute appearances in the league so far and has been quite decent. Arsenal are due to take on Newcastle United next week at St. James’ Park and Emery’s side do need the Uruguayan at the peak of his health in the coming months to make a serious surge for the Premier League title.
