Why This Chelsea Forward Should Take A Gamble And Move To Aston Villa

According to the Mirror, Tammy Abraham is set to reject a loan move to Aston Villa in order to fight for his place at Chelsea. The English starlet was linked with a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge this summer but is now a subject of interest from Villa, who are reportedly seeking a season-long loan deal.

Abraham, however, is adamant that a move to the second division won’t help him further in his career, having already played in the Premier League last season with Swansea City. As a result, the 20-year-old is now ready to remain at West London and a fight for a place in the starting eleven. But, is it really worth it?

Why Chelsea do not need Tammy Abraham

While we should definitely acknowledge the fact that Tammy Abraham is currently one of the most promising English strikers, it’s fair to point out that his presence is largely redundant at Chelsea, who already have a strong attacking lineup.

Although Alvaro Morata had an awful debut campaign in the Premier League, he is still an option along with Olivier Giroud, who helped France win the 2018 FIFA World Cup earlier this summer. In fact, Morata also scored in Chelsea’s 3-2 win over Arsenal.

In addition, Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation is unlikely to give the strikers much opportunity to prove themselves as it mostly revolves around midfield and build-up. Thus, Abraham has a small chance of making an impact as compared to his teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek, another player who wants to prove himself at Stamford Bridge this season.

Furthermore, the title race has already begun with both Liverpool and Manchester City looking sharp in the early stages of the season, which will stop Sarri from experimenting with different players and formations, reducing Abraham’s chances of getting into the first team in the process.

Why a move to Aston Villa makes sense

A move to Aston Villa could prove to be a prudent one considering Abraham will get more game time.

At the age of 20, the forward still has a lot of room for improvement and given the fact that a lot of players have sealed big-money moves to the Premier League just by performing consistently in the second half, Abraham will have a serious chance of making an impact next season.

Steve Bruce’s men have already looked quite promising and the addition of Abraham will help their promotion chances and the player as well.
