Tottenham Hotspur and France national team skipper Hugo Lloris is trying to blow an air of positivism into the ranks of Mauricio Pochettino. He has stated that English and Belgian club-mates will be hungrier for success this season after missing out on the opportunity to clinch the World Cup in Russia.
Lloris guided France to the World Cup title with his stupendous saves and commendable performances and was certainly an instrumental figure in his national side’s triumph. However, the likes of Kieran Trippier, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Moussa Dembele and Toby Alderweireld failed to do the same.
Nonetheless, the 31-year-old believes that the hunger at Spurs will increase manifold this time around. “I’m really pleased to be part of the winning team at the World Cup,” he said when he was asked how the experience of winning the grandest title in the game would be beneficial to the North London outfit.
He also said: “But you could say the England and Belgium players have got back with more hunger because they were so close to the final and the most important trophy of their careers. Pochettino’s men garnered a 2-1 win at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United in their opening fixture on Saturday and are due to lock horns with Fulham this weekend at the Wembley Stadium.
