Perfect 10 for Aguero: Manchester City player ratings vs Huddersfield Town

Manchester City secured an easy win in what was their first home game of the season as they swept aside Huddersfield Town. Following 90 minutes of sheer dominance, the final scoreline read 6:1 as the Sky Blues continued their excellent start to the campaign.

Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick while David Silva and Gabriel Jesus bagged a goal apiece in a convincing win that saw the defending champions move to the top of the table.

Here are the Manchester City players rated and slated from their thumping win over the Terriers.

Ederson (8/10): Didn’t have much to do as Huddersfield barely managed to get forward. However, he became the first Manchester City ‘keeper to record an assist as his amazing pass helped Aguero scored the opener.

John Stones (8/10): Quite a comfortable outing for the English international, who almost featured as an auxiliary midfielder. He was important in the build-up as he attempted 105 passes with a success rate of 96%.

Vincent Kompany (8/10): An excellent return as he was dealt with the long passes with ease.

Aymeric Laporte (8/10): Continued his exceptional form with another solid performance. He completed 91 passes with a stunning accuracy of 97% – more than anyone else on the pitch.

Bernardo Silva (8/10): After impressing in a central role last week, Bernardo Silva showed that he can play anywhere as his direct runs from the right flank caused a lot of trouble to the Huddersfield defence. His link up play with his teammates in the final third was just a joy to watch.

Fernandinho (7.5/10): A composed performance from the Brazilian international, who kept the midfield ticking. He managed a pass accuracy of 95% and played an important role in stopping the opposing midfielders.

Ilkay Gundogan (7/10): Another decent outing for the German international. He failed to impose himself at the centre of the pitch though his intricate touches and flicks helped.

David Silva (10/10): An extraordinary comeback for an extraordinary player, who marked his 250th appearance for the club in emphatic fashion. He was a handful throughout the game thanks to his intricate passes, quick movement and neat footwork. In fact, he was often untouchable whenever he got on the ball in the final third. And his excellent goal from a free kick in the second half reflected the quality the Spanish international possesses.

Benjamin Mendy (9.5/10): Another remarkable performance from Mendy, who, it seems, has become City’s number one playmaker following the absence of Kevin de Bruyne. Indeed, the Frenchman often caused havoc from the left flank with his teasing crosses. He has now registered three assists in his first two games this season

Gabriel Jesus (9/10): Announced his comeback in emphatic fashion as he not only scored a goal but also made several key contributions in terms of Manchester City’s overall gameplay in the final third. Produced an excellent finish to score in the first half.

Sergio Aguero (10/10): Easily the star of the show, Aguero bagged yet another hat-trick. He showed incredible composure to open the scoring and from there, it was just all too easy for him. Could have had more than a three!

Substitutes

Riyad Mahrez (7/10): Came on for David Silva just after the hour mark and was a constant threat from the flanks.

Leroy Sane (7.5/10): Showed incredible burst of pace to force the sixth goal which unfortunately ricocheted off Terence Kongolo.

Phil Foden (NA): Made a late entry by replacing Ilkay Gundogan in the 82nd minute.
