Anthony Martial was heavily linked with an exit from the Old Trafford earlier this summer after he left Manchester United’s pre-season tour of America early for the birth of his second child. Besides, he took a long time to return back to Jose Mourinho’s arsenal and was fined two weeks’ wages due to the same.
The French international was left unused by Mourinho during his side’s 2-1 win over Leicester City in the opening league fixture. However, he was stationed in the starting line-up, owing to the absence of Alexis Sanchez, in the Red Devils’ 3-2 defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday at the AMEX Stadium.
Martial, just like many other Manchester United players, flattered to deceive against the Seagulls and he was pulled out of the pitch with half an hour remaining. As per one of the latest reports by Metro, Mourinho has told Ed Woodward to sell Martial before the European transfer window shuts down on 31st August.
After a frustrating summer transfer window, Mourinho is desperate to strike Martial off his books to raise cash to spend in January. The former Chelsea manager believes that the 22-year-old is surplus to his requirements and is also below the standard that he wants to see in his players.
