Latest: Liverpool Unhappy After The Return Of This World Cup Star

Dejan Lovren was one of the instrumental players for Croatia during the World Cup is Russia, where they eventually lost 4-2 to France in the final. Lovren started 6 games, including the final, but he is facing an extended spell on the sidelines owing to his injury.

The centre-back has admitted that Liverpool are ‘not happy’ after his return to club level football with an injury. Apparently, Lovren is suffering from a stomach complaint and is set to visit a specialist doctor in Netherlands to assess his problem.

He is yet to take part in full training with the Reds despite coming back to Melwood on Monday. Besides, the Croatian international missed his side’s final training session today ahead of their clash against West Ham United at the Anfield tomorrow.

When asked about his injury in an interview, Lovren said, “I cannot train at all because of stomach muscle issues. I am suffering a lot of pain and will see a specialist doctor in the Netherlands. After the World Cup finished, the pain increased. I’d always grit my teeth and play for Croatia, but now I am paying the price. But no price is too high for what we achieved in Russia.”

The likes of Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan have already had their share of injuries during the pre-season friendlies. Therefore, Lovren’s absence against the Hammers will be a major headache for Klopp as there is no denying that he is a key player for Liverpool.
