Arsenal’s season didn’t begin in a convincing manner after their defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea in their first two league outings. The Gunners lacked edge against two of the heavyweights of English football and the sceneries were disappointing for the fans.
On Saturday, Unai Emery bagged his first win as Arsenal’s manager in the Premier League after his troops came from behind to secure a 3-1 win over West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium. However, the North London based outfit wasted a huge number of opportunities.
Marko Arnautovic gave the lead to the visitors but goals from Nacho Monreal, Danny Welbeck and an own goal from Issa Diop fetched Arsenal the victory. It was a pulsating game but once again, Arsenal’s backline stuttered and even their attacking endeavours lacked fluidity for a major period of the fixture.
Monreal was particularly unhappy with how his side performed and speaking to the press after the game, he said: “Against Chelsea we did an excellent job but we conceded three goals and got zero points, and today we have to admit that we probably played worse than the other day, but we won the game so we have to keep improving.”
