Since Steven Gerrard was appointed as the manager of Rangers earlier this summer, the Scottish giants have been unbeaten in all competitions. Gerrard has knitted his armoury brilliantly and under his tutelage, the players have been leaving no stone unturned to chisel productive results.
Despite a lot of signings already being made by Rangers in the ongoing transfer window, one of the players to have been heavily linked with the Gers lately has been Heart of Midlothian striker Kyle Lafferty. Umar Sadiq and Alfredo Morelos are the only two recognized strikers on the books of the former Liverpool skipper.
Therefore, the apparent interest from the Light Blues to get hold of a proven goal-getter in Lafferty makes complete sense. However, former Celtic star and BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has labelled the prospective move as ‘a risk’. Sutton believes that Lafferty’s entry into the Ibrox Stadium could bring detrimental influence on the club.
He said: “I don’t think he’s worth the risk. I think he’s a bit of a loose cannon, that was my point. Everything has gone swimmingly well for Steven Gerrard, why take the risk? I’m not doubting he isn’t an influential player, but why take the risk? He’s not going to play ahead of (Alfredo) Morelos.”
