Bournemouth vs Everton: 3 exciting player battles to watch out for

Back to back victories in the first two games of the Premier League season will give Bournemouth plenty of confidence going into the game against Everton. The Cherries have been confident in their approach this season but face a stern test this weekend when they welcome an in-form Everton side to the Vitality Stadium.

Everton registered their first victory of the season at home against Southampton last weekend after picking up a draw against Wolves on the opening day. Marco Silva’s side have also made a decent start to the season and will be buzzing after the performances of some of their new signings.

There are a number of interesting matchups all around the pitch. Here are three key battles to look out for:

Richarlison vs Steve Cook

The Brazilian winger has made a cracking start to his Everton career and already has three goals and two key passes to his name. He has tormented opposition full-backs in the first two games but his ability to cut inside and create space for himself will be the real danger for the hosts in the game.

Bournemouth need to be defiant at the back and should be led by Steve Cook, who has three tackles, two interceptions and 22 clearances already this season.

Cook has also won 10 aerial duels and will get the better of the Everton front line in the air but the dribbling ability of Richarlison could be a real test.

Theo Walcott vs Charlie Daniels

While Richarlison’s energy on the left flank has been great to watch, Everton have also found able support from the right flank in Theo Walcott. The experienced winger is happy to hug the touchline and has a goal and an assist to his name, providing width to the Everton attack.

Walcott will have to be closely monitored by Charlie Daniels, who has been effective for Bournemouth at left-back, registering four tackles and seven clearances this season.

Callum Wilson vs Michael Keane

Bournemouth, themselves, have not been short of goals this season as Callum Wilson, who has two goals and an assist to his name, has been hard to stop in the first two games.

Wilson also has three key passes and seven successful dribbles and will test the Everton backline.

Michael Keane, who will partner Mason Holgate, needs to step up and keep Wilson in check as the 26-year old is high on confidence and can not only score goals but also set up his teammates in front of goal. If he is not kept under wraps, it could be a long night for Everton away from home.
