Wolverhampton Wanderers Linked With Juventus Star: Should Nuno Go All In?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Real Madrid to Juventus has expectedly created a ripple effect across the major footballing clubs in Europe. The Portuguese superstar made a move to Turin for a transfer fee of £105million, which was paid by the Serie A Champions to the reigning Champions League winners with the attacker signing a four-year deal with his new club.

Owing to Ronaldo’s entry in exchange for a humungous sum of money along with his staggering weekly wage of £500,000, Juventus will be aiming to strike some players off their books. One of the players who might be shown the exit door is Stefano Sturaro.  Sturaro has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United but according to his agent, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton are also monitoring his situation at Juventus very closely.

Having emerged through the youth ranks of Genoa, the Italian international was elevated to their senior side wherein he carved a name for himself. In the summer of 2014, the Old Lady made him sign on the dotted line but he hasn’t been able to live up to his potential. Despite being compared with AC Milan legend, Gennaro Gattuso, Sturaro has been enduring a stuttering career at the Allianz Stadium.

The hard-tackling midfielder can certainly do with a change in scenery and a move to the Molineux Stadium should help in resurrecting his career. The Wolves have already made some staggering signings in Diogo Jota, Willy Boly and Leo Bonatini but considering that the Premier League newcomers are due to face the elite English clubs this season, they should aspire to make some more additions before the transfer window shuts down.

Predominantly a box-to-box midfielder, Sturaro is an astute passer of the ball and he has the penchant of finding the back of the net from long distances. He is renowned for his work ethic and he is exactly the sort of addition that Nuno Espirito Santo needs to have a successful campaign. His ability to read the game is exemplary and he will certainly add a new dimension to the side.

He struggled to cement a place in the starting line-up of Massimiliano Allegri’s outfit last season owing to the availability of Sami Khedira, Blaise Matuidi, Rodrigo Bentacur and Miralem Pjanic. However, he has lots of experience under his belt and his diligence, perseverance, resilience and stamina should really complement Ruben Neves in the middle of the park if his move eventually materializes.
