Probable first and second half Liverpool lineup vs Blackburn Rovers: Gini misses out

Liverpool will take on Blackburn Rovers in what will be their fourth pre-season game of the summer before departing for the ICC tournament.

The Reds have won two of their three pre-season games, having smashed seven goals past Chester and narrowly edging out Tranmere Rovers. Their last game ended in a stalemate against Bury despite a few prominent names starting.

Quite a few stars are yet to return, so we could see a pretty young side feature once again. Liverpool have already revealed that Gini Wijnaldum won’t be featuring in the side as Klopp will name two different teams for each half.

Here’s how the Reds could line up…

Liverpool – First half probable lineup

You’ve got to wonder what’s going on in Loris Karius’ head. After that forgettable night against Real Madrid, Liverpool have been linked with a ‘keeper and reports indicate that Alisson Becker is already on his way. So he’s got to make the best use of his opportunities.

At the back, Robertson and Clyne, who are in the running for being the first choice fullback pairing for the upcoming season, could get the nod. Klavan and Gomez could start at the heart of the defence. Considering Liverpool haven’t been linked with a centre-back, Gomez needs to have a good pre-season and push the likes of Matip and Klavan during the early stages of the Premier League.

The midfield could see new arrivals Fabinho and Keita starting. The former is expected to play as the holding midfielder while Keita could partner Lallana in the attacking midfield. Ryan Kent and Sheyi Ojo could start as the two wingers as Solanke will hope to impress up top.

Probable first-half XI: Karius; Robertson, Klavan, Gomes, Clyne; Lallana, Fabinho, Keita; Kent, Ojo, Solanke

Liverpool – Second half probable lineup

The second half could see Virgil van Dijk and Matip at the heart of the defence. Moreno will be keen to impress like he did at this stage last season and push Robertson for a first-team place. James Milner and Pedro Chirivella will play in the midfield alongside Tavares.

The front line will see Daniel Sturridge again playing in a withdrawn role. Woodburn will play on the left while Origi will start up top. Young Kamil Grabara could get a few minutes in goal later on in the second half.

Probable second-half XI: Karius; Moreno, Van Dijk, Matip, Camacho; Milner, Tavares, Chirivella; Woodburn, Sturridge, Origi
