Arsenal Transfer News: Emery Targeting Serie A Sensation

Transfer News:

Over the past couple of years, there have been many problems that have plagued Arsenal’s first team. Their inability to defend sturdily and the knack of letting in easy goals mean that Arsenal’s defence is always an easy one to breach. Moreover, the fact that they had a goalkeeper who was a handful of mistakes away from hanging his boots(with due respect to Petr Cech) guarding the sticks meant that the last line of defence was feeble and hence they have continuously bestowed easy, avoidable goals upon the opposition.

Petr Cech, despite his excellence and experience, is surely in the final years of his career and hence his inability to guard the backline and protect them from regular attacking threats has further degraded his reputation recently. Fortunately, though, Arsenal look to be making a move in a correct direction. For years now, the Gunners had been known as a club who had an eye for young talents.

They swooped starlets at a really young age and groomed them to become star players in the future. This was also an offspring of Arsene Wenger’s formula and philosophy regarding the promotion of young players through proper development and training. A recent report states that Arsenal are monitoring AS Roma’s teenage custodian named Matteo Cardinalli. Matteo is a part of Italy’s U-16 team and that means that he is in the ranks to make it to the senior team too.

Cardinalli: Player Profile

Matteo is 17-years-old and trains at AS Roma’s academy currently. He is a goalkeeper who has represented the club in junior levels, having featured in the Campionato and Campionato Nazionale U-17 tournaments.

He is supposed to have good reflexes, a decent built and is not afraid to come out of his line more often. Being trained in Italy, Cardinalli will have the privilege of availing some of the best youth training facilities in Europe.

AS Roma has been known as a club that is always looking to improve and give good playing time to youngsters, and it is safe to assume that Cardinalli’s training has been in safe hands.

Should Arsenal make a move?

Arsenal’s training features are one of the best in England as the club ensures that the lads get a good knack and run in the field before making the inevitable progress in their careers. It is good to see the scouts working well enough to spot possible teenagers who could switch to the Emirates in the future.

If Arsenal approach, it would depend completely on the player and his family/agent to decide whether to move outside of the country for further development. Youngsters tend to stay in their own home country at such a nascent age of their career, but well an offer from Arsenal might be difficult to turn down.
