Liverpool handed a transfer boost in their chase of Bundesliga star: Is he worth the fuss?

Liverpool have been pretty active in the transfer window already but things could get a bit more interesting in the coming weeks. Christian Pulisic is one player Jürgen Klopp has kept a close eye on and the American international could be on the move pretty soon.

Pulisic’s own father admitted that you never know what is possible in football as the landscape has changed so much. He revealed, “There’s always change. You can think one thing, then you do it, and at the end of the day, it wasn’t the right thing.

“Football is crazy. You have to go with the flow and make sure the player feels comfortable, whatever the decision is. There’s no magic formula. Is it right to stay at Dortmund? Who knows. Is it right to move to another club? He might think it is, or someone else might think it is, but it might not be in the player’s mind.”

A few days ago, Pulisic produced a brilliant display and helped Dortmund beat Liverpool in the International Champions Cup.

After the performance, reports emerged on how Klopp’s relationship with the player could help them jump ahead of the queue that includes Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Pulisic- Stats

Still only 19, Pulisic is one of the most sought-after teenagers in world football owing to his consistent performances at club level. Last season, Dortmund struggled to compete with Bayern Munich but managed to get into the top four.

Pulisic was a key contributor for the team as the likes of Marco Reus and Andriy Yarmolenko either had injury spells or weren’t consistent enough in the wide areas.

He scored four goals and provided five assists last season in what was his best return for the club in the league. His dribbling stats were pretty impressive though. He averaged 2.4 dribbles a game in the Bundesliga and that number increased to 4.2 in the Champions League.

What will Christian Pulisic add to Liverpool?

Liverpool already have pretty tricky and agile wingers in Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri and Pulisic will provide them with the depth. Still only 19, he will be a long-term purchase by the Reds.

Liverpool can’t afford to rest on their laurels as quite a few clubs will be eyeing Salah if he can keep up his form, so planning for the future is the least they can do. In that regard, Pulisic would be a smashing signing.  And of course, they can rotate well next season with silverware the target for next season.
