Cardiff City Eyeing 22 Y/O Liverpool Midfielder: A No-brainer For The Bluebirds?

Liverpool sensation, Marko Grujic, is one of the highly rated starlets in the Premier League. Having emerged through the youth ranks of Red Star Belgrade, he made an immediate impact after being promoted to their senior side. In the January transfer window of 2016, Grujic signed for the Reds but so far, he hasn’t been able to carve a notable spot for himself under the tactical nous of Jurgen Klopp.

Last season, he was shipped out on loan in January to the then Championship outfit, Cardiff City and he managed to impress there. The Bluebirds secured their promotion to the Premier League after finishing second and thus earning an automatic promotion to the top flight. With Neil Warnock’s men due to face the elite clubs of the country this season, he is desperately trying to beef up his arsenal.

Warnock has already signed Josh Murphy, Bobby Reid, Alex Smithies and Greg Cunningham and apparently, he has his eyes set on Grujic as per one of the latest reports by Wales Online. The 22-year-old is wanted by the newcomers on loan and in all fairness, it should be a good deal for all the parties involved.

Regular first-team football is unlikely to be achieved by Grujic anytime soon owing to the plethora of stars that Klopp has under his command. He needs to ply his trade regularly to keep his developmental graph in the right direction and to do so, a loan spell with a club less demanding as compared to Liverpool should be beneficial for him.

The 22-year-old made 13 appearances in the Championship for Cardiff City last term and scored a goal. Besides, he made 1.8 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 2.8 clearances and 0.3 blocks per game on an average. Predominantly a central midfielder, Grujic is an exceptional starlet who is excellent in reading the game. Moreover, he has the physical strength to face the animosity of the Premier League and he is very good in the air as well.

Grujic has already been with Cardiff City and thus, acclimatizing with them isn’t something which will be worrying the player. Familiar faces will be of big help and given that they will have one of the lowest wage bills in the top flight, it is quite obvious that Vincent Tan will be hoping that Warnock strikes a number of bargains to enhance his arsenal and thus, a loan deal for Grujic should help them in meeting their needs.
