Aston Villa Interested In A Loan Move For 18 Y/O Welsh Forward: Wise Decision By Bruce

Transfer Story

According to a recent report, Aston Villa are closing in on Liverpool starlet Ben Woodburn. The Villans are keen to sign Woodburn on a season-long loan deal. The player will not be travelling with the Liverpool squad for their training camp in France with his future set to be sorted in a couple of days. The Reds had earlier rejected Wigan Athletic’s loan offer for the 18-year-old.

Woodburn is unarguably one of the most highly rated players at Anfield and is touted as a star for the future. Capable of plying his trade anywhere in the attacking sector, he is an impressive footballer and versatility is one of his strongest suits.

He might not have a daunting figure but what he does have is an exemplary vision which enables him to have an impact on the game. His positioning and awareness, coupled with the raw pace in his legs, enable him to breeze past the opposition defenders with relative ease. He has the tendency to create chances for his teammates and to also score goals.

Aston Villa Can Breathe Again

Aston Villa were in a worrying state earlier this summer after their failure to earn promotion last season saw their finances going awry. They were on the verge of administration but thanks to Aston Villa’s new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, their cash crisis has been solved. Further, the transfer embargo that was imposed on the Midlands outfit was lifted and thus, the Villans have emerged as the favourites to land Woodburn.

Under the tutelage of Steve Bruce, Aston Villa would be aiming to get the uplift to the top flight after narrowly missing out last term. Bruce does need reinforcements to enhance the quality of his arsenal and a talented blossoming young player like Woodburn would be a healthy addition to their camp. Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the Wales international and thus, he is willing to ship him out on loan to enable him to collect some much-needed gametime under his belt.

Avoiding Stagnation

Klopp does have a plethora of stars under his command and Woodburn is unlikely to get too much game time this season if he stays at Anfield. He spent the last season on the fringes of the senior side and after the entry of Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, it would be beneficial for Woodburn to complete a temporary move to Aston Villa to avoid getting stagnated.
