Reports: Arsenal keen on signing all-action French midfield star

The post-Arsene Wenger era at Arsenal is underway. The Frenchman waved goodbye to the north London outfit after more than two decades at the end of last season and Unai Emery was appointed to navigate the club in the right direction for the upcoming seasons.

The former Paris Saint-Germain boss has already signed Lucas Torreira, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Matteo Guendouzi, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos and there is no denying that the additions he has made were very much required to eradicate the loopholes that existed. The central defensive midfield has unarguably been one of the weak links for Arsenal for quite some time now.

Arsenal want to sign PSG’s Adrien Rabiot

Emery is apparently keen to bolster the slot further despite having signed Torreira. As per one of the latest reports by Calciomercato, Arsenal are interested to sign PSG’s defensive midfielder, Adrien Rabiot. The 23-year-old has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Juventus this summer and the report further states that Rabiot is keen to make a move to Camp Nou.

However, owing to the twists and turns that take place during a transfer window, one can never come to a conclusion before any deal actually materializes.

Emery is well acquainted and knows that calibre that the midfielder possesses and no wonder why he has put him on his radar. He made 33 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and managed to score 1 goal and register 5 assists.

Besides, he made 1.8 tackles, 1 interception, 0.6 clearance and 0. 3 blocks per game on an average. Precision in passing the ball one of the strongest suits of the Frenchman and last season, he completed 92.2% of his passes in the French top flight which is simply sensational. He is a shrewd reader of the game and attempts to dictate the tempo of the game from the middle of the park.

However, he is not familiar with English football and thus, it will definitely take him some time to settle if he moves to the Emirates Stadium and there will be an involvement of risk.

Arsenal now have the likes of Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Guendouzi and Torreira, which implies that signing Rabiot is not an urgent need for the club. But if they can strike a deal for a justifiable price, he can be a handy asset for the club in the upcoming seasons.
