Manchester United ready to battle it out for the Italian sensation: A smashing move?

Premier League giants Manchester United are ready to battle it out with arch-rivals Liverpool and cross-town rivals Manchester City for the services of Federico Chiesa this summer, according to reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Fiorentina sensation has been linked with a move out of Italy, following a string of amazing performances this season and a move to Premier League could soon be on the horizon for the highly rated youngster this summer.

Napoli and Roma are also interested in his services along with three of the aforementioned Premier League giants. Manchester United, in particular, have shown an immense interest in the 20-year-old as they attempt to strengthen their team in the upcoming transfer window.

Following a disappointing season, the Red Devils could be on the verge of a potential squad overhaul with the likes of Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw being linked with a move out of Old Trafford. Head coach Jose Mourinho is also keen to secure the services of a quality attacker, with Martial’s long-term future with the club still uncertain.

Chiesa could prove to be a great candidate for Manchester United, who will be looking to pose a strong challenge to Manchester City for the title next season. The Italian winger, who is the son of former Serie A player Enrico Chiesa, has been one of the rising stars in the Italian top flight this season.

Following his breakthrough into the starting eleven at the end of last season, the 20-year-old has managed to nail down a regular spot in the first team, having made 36 appearances. His six goals coupled with his nine assists this season has helped the Violas to finish in top eight. However, it’s no secret that the Italian giants could find it very difficult to keep hold of their prized attacking asset this summer.

Blessed with incredible speed and mobility in the final third, Chiesa can be an ideal replacement Anthony Martial, who hasn’t enjoyed a good spell under Jose Mourinho. However, his adaptation to certain gameplans is what makes him such a sought-after talent in European talent.

Normally a right winger in a 4-4-2 formation, Chiesa is fairly adept at shifting as a right-wingback in a three-man backline, which can be ideal for a defensive-oriented manager like Mourinho. In addition, his excellent speed coupled with his great passing abilities can hand United an extra dimension in the final third.

Chiesa’s current contract with Fiorentina expires in 2022, meaning the Red Devils definitely have shell out a lot of sum for the services of the Italian sensation, who can turn into a footballing superstar within the coming years.
