Another Dud Show By The Attackers As De Gea Wins The Golden Glove: Manchester United Player Ratings

It was a typical end of the season performance from Manchester United as the intensity and the energy of the game dropped after the 25^th minute. Eventually, it turned out to be a goalless draw, but United have finally secured the second spot in the league and that is what most of the people and the players along with the manager looked forward to ahead of this game. Here, we rate the Manchester United players from the game:

David de Gea: 6/10

The Spaniard had a completely quiet day at the office as he hardly had to make any saves and mostly collected passes from his own teammates most of the times. However, it marked a historic game for the Spaniard as he has now collected the Golden Glove for the season.

Victor Lindelof: 6/10

Lindelof showed some good positional sense as closed down some spaces on the right-hand side of the box and even handled Arnautovic quite effectively.

Chris Smalling: 5/10

Smalling had a quiet game as such and made no notable defensive contribution but generally looked more comfortable with two men flanking him on either side.

Phil Jones: 7/10

Jones was strong while defending, as he dealt with Arnautovic and then Andy Caroll strongly. He even moved up on the pitch, in order to build the play from the back and was largely untroubled defensively.

Antonio Valencia: 7/10

Valencia had to track back a couple of times but he often found himself in better crossing positions than usual and a target-man like Romelu Lukaku would have definitely put in some of his deliveries.

Luke Shaw: 7/10

Shaw had a good game as he tracked back whenever required, but more importantly, he touched the byline and sent in some testing balls into the box.

Scott McTominay: 7/10

Worked the ball around in the midfield, often found the right man in advanced positions and had one decent chance saved by Adrian from the long-range.

Ander Herrera: 6/10

Herrera was at his own energetic self at the centre of the park as he pressed the opponent, won the ball back and was involved in a couple of mishaps over fouls too.

Paul Pogba: 7/10

Pogba drove the team ahead at times, but that final decisive ball was lacking on a couple of promising occasions. However, whenever he released a good ball into the box, there were no forwards inside the penalty area to take advantage of the situation.

Jesse Lingard: 7/10

Lingard drifted aside from his forward’s role and often dropped deep a lot. However, he had some long-range efforts saved, and the Mancunian was quite unlucky in that aspect, to be honest as he could have had a couple of stunning goals at the end of the match.

Alexis Sanchez: 7/10

Sanchez displayed some tremendous footwork to tee up Pogba and Jesse Lingard, but the Chilean should have played higher up on the field to influence the game more from the penalty box. He had one good shot blocked by Adrian, though.

Substitutes:

Marcus Rashford: 5/10

Not much of a notable impact as he played some good one-twos, but never deciphered a clear goal-scoring opportunity for him.

Ashley Young and Eric Bailly lasted a little more than one minute on the field as they were brought in the injury time.
