Bristol City’s Joe Bryan has emerged as a target for Burnley, Everton and Aston Villa, as per one of the latest reports by Bristol Post. Further, TEAMtalk has reported that Sean Dyche’s side have readied a deal in excess of £6million to lure Bryan to Turf Moor. Although no official confirmation about the same has been put forth by Burnley, the move apparently seems to be on the cards.
Bryan emerged through the youth ranks of Bristol City and prior to cementing his place in the senior side of the Robins, he garnered a feel of competitive football during his loan spell with Bath City and Plymouth Argyle. Now, he is an established member of Bristol City and owing to his performances last season, he has carved a place on the radar of some top clubs.
The 24-year-old found the back of the net on 5 occasions and also garnered 3 assists to his name from 43 appearances in the Championship during the 2017-18 campaign. Besides, he mustered 2.9 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 3.1 clearances and 0.3 blocks per game on an average. In all fairness, he deserves to ply his trade in the Premier League after having proven his mettle in the second division.
Bryan is a versatile player and despite the fact that he is a left-back, he is capable of operating in the right-back and left wing-back positions. His ability to read the game is meticulous and there is no denying that he contributes immensely to offensive as well as defensive aspects of his side.
Besides, the Englishman is a good crosser of the ball and keeps his calmness and composure intact in crunch situations. He links up with his teammates, tries to gallop forward to create chances and tracks back with ease to make astute tackles and interceptions. Bryan has accumulated plenty of experience under his belt and is unarguably one of the best players in the Championship.
Charlie Taylor has struggled to cope up with the rigours of the Premier League after his move from Leeds United and thus, the left-back slot seems to be an area of concern for Dyche. Taylor’s performances have been far from satisfactory and he is expected to be loaned out next season for further development. If Bryan backs his credentials with consistent performances, it will take him very little time to cement his place in Burnley’s starting line-up.
