Hull City engineered a dazzling 5-0 away win against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium in their last league fixture and the Tigers must be aiming to have a strong set of performances in the business end of the season. Nigel Adkins’ men are due to host Sheffield Wednesday at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday.
Jarrod Bowen is nursing a foot injury and a late fitness test might determine his chances of featuring this weekend. However, it will not make sense to rush him. While James Weir remains out with a knee injury, Evandro and Moses Odubajo are back in training but these two will not be in contention to feature against the Owls.
Here is how we expect Adkins to roll out his starting line-up against Jos Luhukay’s troops.
Allan McGregor has been preferred between the sticks by Hull City this season and he is expected to keep his place in the starting XI. The 36-year-old custodian has garnered 12 clean sheets from 41 appearances in the Championship this season and has made 2.49 saves per game on an average.
Angus MacDonald and Michael Dawson are likely to start in central defence yet again. The duo will have to form a solid base for their side to come up with another winning display.
Fikayo Tomori looked really commendable against the Brewers from the right-back slot and thus, Adkins is expected to continue with him. Meanwhile, Max Clark is expected to be placed in the left-back slot instead of Stephen Kingsley.
Markus Henriksen and Sebastian Larsson are anticipated to operate as the central defensive midfielders. The duo has plenty of experience under their belt and will have their task cut out.
Jackson Irvine had a memorable outing against Burton Albion and he is set to get the nod to start as the central attacking midfielder once again. He showcases immense attacking and creative prowess in the final third and his side do need him to fire this weekend.
Kamil Grosicki has smashed 9 goals and has also registered 4 assists in 34 appearances in the Championship this season, including a brace against Nigel Clough’s troops and he is likely to start from the left-wing. While Will Keane is expected to see the green light to start as the striker, we expect Harry Wilson to be chalked on the right flank in the upcoming fixture.
