In the aftermath of the humiliating loss at Stamford Bridge to Tottenham Hotspur, which by the way, was the first time ever in the Premier League as we know it, the number of tongues wagging has multiplied.
And unsurprisingly, the centre of the talk has been the disenchanted Italian, Antonio Conte. He has looked forlorn on the touchline and his discord with some of the senior stars has seemed obvious.
And the latest comments have come from none other than Conte’s former Juventus teammate and ex-Chelsea player, Gianluca Vialli. The Italian has stuck his neck out and has remarked that Conte is ”almost looking forward to leaving Chelsea at the end of the season”.
He further added that the feeling might well be mutual and that Chelsea will also look to change things in the managerial hot-seat and they might look for someone with a more bureaucratic view of things.
He said,
”I would be surprised to see Conte at Chelsea next season because I think he is almost looking forward to leaving, and I also think that Chelsea want to change, they want something new, maybe a manager who is more of a corporate man – people have been talking about Luis Enrique.
I think Antonio will find a place to start working from and will win something important.”
It remains to be seen what actually transpires at the end of the season but Vialli’s statements might not seem too far-fetched then.
