Chelsea Eyeing Three-Time Champions League Winner: Ideal Player To Lead The Line?

Premier League giants Chelsea are interested in the services of Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, according to reports from Spain.

Don Balon claim that the Premier League defending champions could be in for a major squad overhaul this summer with Karim Benzema leading their transfer wishlist in the upcoming transfer window.

The Blues have had their fair share of trouble under Antonio Conte this season, following an impressive debut season in the Premier League. Currently dawdling at fifth position in the league table, Champions League qualification seems far-fetched for the London giants at the moment, especially after the recent defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

One of the main reasons behind Chelsea’s decline has been their lack of potency in the attacking department. The Premier League giants haven’t been prolific in front of goal this season, especially after the departure of star striker Diego Costa.

Although new signing Alvaro Morata has shown some promise, at times, he is yet to produce anything meaningful for the Blues this campaign. Therefore, Chelsea are in dire need of someone who can take up the responsibility of Chelsea’s goal-scoring department next season and Karim Benzema might be the man they need!

The Real Madrid superstar, largely criticized for his lack of goalscoring prowess in La Liga this season, has been one of the most important players for the Spanish giants in the past few seasons. Although the French international has scored only four goals in 23 league matches, his overall contribution to his team’s attacking play, in the final third, has been massive.

Provided that Chelsea will likely appoint a new manager at the start of next season, Karim Benzema’s arrival at Stamford Bridge will definitely boost their attacking department.

Known for his predatory skills in front of goal, Karim Benzema is a terrific all-round striker, who can not only boost Chelsea’s attack but also provide the much-needed support for the likes of Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard.

The 30-year-old is excellent when it comes to link-up play, which is clearly reflected in his seemingly telepathic connection with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco at Real Madrid. But it’s his off the ball movements which make him a unique component in the final third. Hence, he can be an ideal fit for Chelsea, especially with Hazard and Willian supporting from behind.

In addition, his partnership with former teammate Alvaro Morata will definitely make Chelsea one of the most feared teams in the Premier League next season. With Real Madrid being expected to bring in a number of high profile signings this summer, Benzema is believed to be keen for a switch and a move to Chelsea next season can be ideal for the former Lyon superstar.
