As per latest reports by Birmingham Live, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Benfica attacking midfielder, Anderson Talisca, to beef up their offensive arsenal in the summer. Besides, Manchester United and Liverpool are also involved in the race to secure Talisca’s services.
Talisca emerged though the youth ranks of Vasco da Gama and Bahia and then started his senior career with the latter. After a season, he was prised away by Benfica but he was shipped out on loan to Besiktas in the summer of 2016 on a two-year deal and has been one of the most instrumental players for Besiktas this season. He also represented the Brazil Under-20 and Under-23 sides.
The 24-year-old is a good goal-getter from midfield having scored 10 goals from the attacking midfield position. Apart from being more than capable of shooting long rangers, he frequently tests oppositions’ goalkeepers by aiming at the goal from close quarters.
The Brazilian has quite a lot of flair and because of his ability to draw players, he can make space for the rest of the attackers.
However, he is often criticised at times for the lack of defensive contribution. Having said that, is he can be supported by a good double pivot behind him, he could be pretty effective.
Talisca has been brilliant so far in the Turkish SuperLig as he has smashed 10 goals and registered 3 assists from 23 appearances for Besiktas. He has been fouled at least 2.5 times every game which shows it’s pretty hard to get the ball off him.
He has recorded 1.2 key passes every game too and that number could go up in the more open Premier League.
Under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been very productive in the Championship this season. They are favourites to clinch the championship and their promotion to the Premier League seems very likely.
The animosity that the English football offers isn’t something that can be taken lightly. Thus, Espirito Santo would need to inject more quality to his side in the summer and Talisca could be a stupendous signing. He has been proving his mettle for quite some time now and a move to the Molineux should appeal to the forward.
