Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings: Son Impresses As Pochettino’s Side Beat Huddersfield

Tottenham Hotspur continued their fine form against Huddersfield this weekend as a brace from Heung-Min Son was enough for them to land all three points at Wembley, taking their unbeaten run to 17 games. David Wagner’s men came into this game on the back of two consecutive victories and started strongly but Son’s first goal seemed to have hit their confidence as Spurs started to dominate the game.

The hosts were the superior side on the night and though did not create as many chances as they usually do, did enough to outscore the Terriers and help themselves to three crucial points. They will keep the pressure on Chelsea and Liverpool who play later and here are the player ratings for the hosts in this tie:

Hugo Lloris (6)

Had one save to make of note on a rather comfortable evening for the Frenchman who helped himself to yet another clean sheet.

Serge Aurier (6)

Started the game nervously but got stuck in and did well to keep Huddersfield away from creating any attacks down his flank.

Davinson Sanchez (6)

Was hardly tested all game as he won everything thrown at him in the air and helped his side to an easy victory.

Jan Vertonghen (6)

Like Sanchez had very little to do all night as he was comfortable clearing the very little danger the Terriers posed.

Ben Davies (7)

Stuck to his task well and added numbers to the attack when needed and kept the ball rolling to keep his side on top.

Eric Dier (7)

Dropped deep to dictate play and never gave the visitors any time on the ball as he was quick to snuff attacks out and keep his side on the front foot.

Mousa Dembele (6)

Had a tough night where he was given no space or time by the Huddersfield defence but did well to create a couple of half chances, keeping the pressure on Wagner’s men.

Christian Eriksen (6)

His set pieces were at times too good for the visitors but did very little from open play and will be happy with the victory.

Dele Alli (7)

One of his best games in recent times, Alli not only picked up the assist for Son’s goal but was also effective with the ball at his feet, taking on the Huddersfield players with confidence. Also came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.

Heung-Min Son (8)

The brightest player for Spurs on the night, Son started the game well and took his chances as he found himself having to score two easy goals, to help his side to yet another victory.

Harry Kane (7)

Had a couple of half chances to find the back of the net but missed. However, a sublime ball opened up the Terriers’ defence for Son’s second as he put the result beyond the visitors.

Substitutes

Moussa Sissoko (6)

Came on to replace Dembele who was struggling and did well to keep the pressure on Wagner’s side.

Lucas Moura (6)

Added some pace and purpose to Spurs’ attacks late in the game.

Eric Lamela (N/A)
