Tottenham Hotspur linked with all-action midfielder: What will he add to the team?

Tottenham have once again managed to impress this season under Mauricio Pochettino. The North Londoners are in a good position in the domestic league and even though they were beaten by Juventus in the Champions League, they had a good campaign by beating the likes of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the group stage. They are also two wins away from silverware as they’ll take on Man United in the FA Cup semifinal.

The reason why they’ve done so well is because Spurs managed to keep their better players and added some good young players like Davinson Sanchez last summer. They’ve largely stuck to signing younger players in the transfer windows and that could continue as they’ve been linked with Salzburg midfielder Amadou Haidara.

Amadou Haidara: Touted to make it big…

Haidara is essentially a creative midfielder. He is very good with the ball at his feet, as his footwork and close control help him to get out of cramped spaces with relative ease. He has the knack of finding spaced in the final third and is a very good passer of the ball.

Occasionally, the lad can score a goal or two himself as his long-distance shooting is noteworthy. At 20 years of age, he has time on his side and can work on adapting to the Premier League if Spurs sign him.

Should Spurs make a move?

Yes. Moussa Sissoko has failed to make a mark under Pochettino and hence the midfield could do with another addition. Victor Wanyama’s injury troubles have been well documented too. Moussa Dembele is the only player who is adept at providing creative service to the forwards whilst playing from the middle of the park as Dier is a more defensive midfielder.

Dembele isn’t immune to injuries as we saw in the first half of the season and Spurs need to ensure they sign a younger version of the Belgian keeping in mind the long term future.

Mauricio Pochettino is a manager who has shown a knack for developing young players. Dele Alli and Harry Kane have gone on to become some of the finest talents in England under the tutelage of the Argentine. Haidara could be the next in line as he is pretty talented and needs to be chiseled well.
