Predicted 4-4-2 Newcastle United lineup vs Huddersfield: Perez and Gayle up front?

After the international break, Newcastle United will return to Premier League action and will have the chance to pick up three points take one step closer to sealing their top-flight status.

The Magpies host Huddersfield Town in a crunch clash with just a point separating the two clubs, although the Terriers having played a game extra. Heading into the final stretch of the campaign, both clubs will be hoping they can get results to help keep them away from the relegation zone.

Newcastle head into Saturday’s fixture with a 6-match unbeaten streak at home. Rafa Benitez will be looking to add to David Wagner’s woes away from as they’ve won just 3 of their 13 games on their travels.

Matt Ritchie has returned to training after he missed Scotland’s clash against Hungary due to a groin issue.

Slimani is yet to feature for Newcastle due to a thigh injury but has regained fitness after his participation in Algeria’s international friendly against Iran.

Defence

Winter loanee Martin Dubravka will be the man between the sticks for Newcastle. The two central defenders deployed could be Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune. The Frenchman alongside Newcastle’s captain has been quite solid. Rafa Benitez will be reliant on DeAndre Yedlin to provide pace on the right while Paul Dummett could be the left-back on Saturday.

Midfield

Rafa Benitez is expected to field a 4-man midfield. Mohamed Diamé and Jonjo Shelvey will be expected to add more steel whilst also supplying Newcastle’s front runners. The Newcastle faithful will hope that Shelvey’s vision and passing can influence their side and register 3 crucial points.

Matt Ritchie scored during his previous league outing against Southampton and will hope to continue his good run of form. He is likely to play on the left while Kenedy will play on the right and will hope to continue his good form after his brace against Southampton.

The two strikers for Saturday’s tie could be Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez. Perez heads into this game with just one goal in his last seven league outings.

He and Benitez will hope to better that tally come Saturday. Both strikers will have to be at their best as they will be facing two good defenders in Mathias Jørgensen and Christopher Schindler.
