Arsenal Reignite Their Interest In Bundesliga Playmaker: The Ideal Player For The Club?

Premier League giants Arsenal have reignited their interest in Emil Forsberg, as per German journalist Raphael Honigstein. The Guardian expert confirmed that Arsenal tried to sign the RB Leipzig playmaker earlier this year and has also reported that the Gunners could be in a for a move for Forsberg in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Forsberg, who was labelled as the next Kevin de Bruyne by many Bundesliga fans (including myself), shortly after an incredible debut season in the German top flight during the 2016/17 campaign, has struggled a lot with frequent injuries this campaign.

Indeed! The Swedish international has featured in only 17 Bundesliga matches this term, most of which have come as a substitute – something that has definitely affected his overall performance. Forsberg has recorded only one goal and two assists in the Bundesliga so far, which is quite bad for a player of his calibre.

But that being said, however, there’s no doubt that the former Malmo prodigy is one of the most impressive up and coming talents from Sweden. Since joining the club in the summer of 2015, Forsberg instantly made a huge impact at Leipzig, emerging as one of the key components in their attacking lineup.

In his first season with the club, the 26-year-old recorded an astonishing tally of 22 assists whilst scoring eight goals, which eventually helped Leipzig finish second, even in their debut season in the German top flight!

The 26-year-old, earlier voiced his willingness to move to a bigger club in future, meaning a move away from the Red Bull Arena this summer, looks very likely for the Swedish international.

Arsenal, in particular, could be an ideal place for Emil Forsberg. Especially with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Francis Coquelin leaving the club earlier this year, the Gunners have run short of quality midfielders, of late.

Furthermore, even Jack Wilshere has been linked with a move to AC Milan this summer. Therefore, the Gunners should definitely make a move for this highly rated playmaker, who is more than capable of making a huge difference in the Premier League.

Forsberg’s lucid gameplay coupled with his incredible vision, in the final third is ideal for Arsenal’s style of play under Arsene Wenger. In addition, the midfielder is also quite versatile, as he can also feature as a left-sided midfielder as well as a central midfielder, despite being a CAM, by trade.

The combination of Emil Forsberg, Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey will surely elevate Arsenal’s quality in the middle while the front trio of Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan and Ozil will make them a force to be reckoned with next season.
