Two Key Changes In Attack: Predicted 4-4-2 Leicester City Lineup To Face Sheffield United

Premier League side Leicester City will host Sheffield Wednesday this Friday as they aim to get through to the next round of the FA Cup.

Sheffield United have been quite decent in the Championship this season, sitting pretty in eighth place, just three points behind the playoff spots. The Blades will be keen to cause an upset this week, as they attempt to stop high powered Leicester this weekend.

The Foxes, on the other hand, are coming on the back of a humiliating 5:1 battering against league leaders Manchester City but will be confident about their chances of beating Sheffield in the Cup. Leicester are currently sitting eighth in the Premier League ahead of their FA Cup clash, thanks to an impressive spell under Claude Puel so far this season.

Here’s the predicted Leicester City lineup to feature against Sheffield United this week.

Defence

We are likely to see third choice keeper Ben Hamer, who could get the nod ahead of Eldin Jakupovic and Kasper Schmeichel, as the man between the sticks for Leicester.

In the defensive setup, manager Claude Puel is expected to make some changes, one of which would be to revert to a four-man backline.

Therefore, Harry Maguire could line up alongside Aleksandar Dragovic in central defence, while Christian Fuchs, who started as a CB against Manchester City last week, could shift to his preferred left back position. Danny Simpson, on the other hand, will take up his position at right back.

Midfield

Claude Puel is expected to play his strongest eleven against Sheffield United this week, meaning the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Vicente Iborra could get the nod. Both the players are expected to start in central midfield.

There could also be a first XI place for Riyad Mahrez, since his deadline day drama. The Algerian’s addition to the starting lineup could significantly improve Leicester City’s chances of overcoming Sheffield United whilst also adding considerable flair to their attack.

The 26-year-old will be deployed as the right winger while Demarai Gray is expected to start on the left. The young English winger will be eager to perform well as he looks to impress head coach Claude Puel.

Attack

Jamie Vardy is expected to lead the line for Leicester City, alongside former Manchester City player Kelechi Iheanacho. The English International’s pairing with Riyad Mahrez in the attacking department will be a boon for the Leicester faithful as they aim to dismantle the Sheffield United defence this weekend.
