Three Players Get 9: Manchester City Players Rated In Thumping 3-0 Win Over Arsenal

Pep Guardiola has won his first silverware as Manchester City manager defeating Arsenal 3-0. Goals from Sergio Agüero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva ensured City’s triumph in the Carabao Cup final.

City went ahead from a delightful dink by Aguero over Ospina following a goal kick from Bravo in the first half. Vincent Kompany put the Sky Blues 2-0 up from a corner followed by a brilliantly drilled shot by David Silva that sealed the tie for the men in blue. The treble is well and truly on for Pep’s men with the Premier League within their sights and the Champions League an exciting prospect.

Player Ratings

Claudio Bravo:7/10
Barely had to make any distinctive saves as his defenders gave no sight of goal to the Arsenal attackers.

Danilo:8/10
Hardly called upon to make any significant contribution defensively. A decent game providing good support and width for City. Assisted Silva for City’s second.

Vincent Kompany:9/10
Hardly put a foot wrong in last night’s game as he marshalled his troops to perfection. Topped his performance with a sharp finish that put City 2-0 in front.

Nicolás Otamendi:8/10
Another authoritative performance at centre back for the Argentine. Partnered Kompany very well and gave Aubameyang very little breathing space.

Kyle Walker:8/10
Stuck to his defensive duties quite well and used his overlapping abilities to good use.

Fernandinho:7/10
Sat in front of City’s defence and distributed the ball well. Had a couple of nervy moments during Arsenal’s break whilst on a yellow card.

İlkay Gündoğan: 8/10
Showed good precision in his passing and was decisive on the counter attacks. A good outing for the German.

Kevin De Bruyne:8/10
An ever-present threat to the Arsenal back-line with his through balls and dribbling.

David Silva:9/10
A fantastic display by the magician. Clinically dispatched Danilo’s ball to put City 3-0 in front. His craft and guile was a treat to watch.

Leroy Sané:8/10
An ever-present threat on the left wing. His blistering pace and fluency caused many problems to the Arsenal defence.

Sergio Agüero:9/10
Another top class performance from the Argentine hit-man. Lobbed Ospina splendidly to put City in the lead. His sharpness and movements had the Arsenal defenders chasing him all evening. A complete forward’s performance.

Subs:

Bernardo Silva:7/10
Brought on for Fernandinho in the 52nd minute. Made good use of his trickery and pace. A fairly comfortable 40 minutes for the ex-Monaco man.

Gabriel Jesus: NA

Phil Foden: NA
