What Does The Future Hold For The Chelsea Loanee Who Has Taken The Bundesliga By Storm?

Borussia Dortmund striker Michy Batshuayi has embraced the Bundesliga, it seems, following his loan move from Chelsea last month. The Belgian forward has already netted five goals and an assist in just three games for the Black and Yellows so far.

Even fans have quickly embraced the Belgian marksman, thanks to his colourful personality and some amazing performances in the last few matches. This significant growth of his popularity, not more than just two weeks after moving in could force Borussia Dortmund to make a move for the Chelsea striker this summer, despite having no option to buy in the initial loan agreement.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are struggling with their league form, having been defeated in their last two out of three matches. This dip in form has seen a barrage of criticism directed towards head coach Antonio Conte, who might be shown the exit door, should Chelsea fail to win against West Brom.

Considering the fact that the sacking of Antonio Conte is a very likely proposition at the moment, should Chelsea hold on if Dortmund makes a permanent move for Michy Batshuayi, who was initially deemed as surplus to the requirements by the Italian in the first place, in the summer?

While it’s clear that Michy Batshayi is reaping the rewards of Dortmund’s world-class offensive lineup, consisting the likes of Marco Reus, Mario Gotze, Shinji Kagawa, Christian Pulisic etc, we have to give credit to the Belgian for integrating into Dortmund’s playing philosophy in the span of just a few days.

The 24-year-old has already exhibited his skills both on and off the ball. In the games against the likes of Koln and HSV, the Belgian was using his physicality to hold-up the ball in advanced positions, while he also showed tremendous understanding with the likes of Pulisic and Reus, in the last game. It’s clearly evident that Batshuayi’s real talent is oozing at Dortmund, where he currently feels very much at home.

Having already lost the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, due to their reluctance to stick to unpolished prospects, Chelsea simply can’t afford to lose Michy Batshuayi next season and therefore, should plan to having him back at the club, especially with Antonio Conte on the verge of leaving the Stamford Bridge next season.

It will be interesting to see what steps Borussia Dortmund take in order to seal a permanent deal for the Belgian this summer.
