Chelsea eyeing a swap deal for Manchester City star: A wise move by the club?

The transfer market never ceases to amaze us and if recent reports are to be believed, then we’re in for another crazy summer where a few shock deals could transpire. Premier League leaders Manchester City have had one hell of a season and are fighting for a quadruple, but regardless of what happens, they are expected to remain busy come summer and add a few players.

Of late, they have been linked with a move for Eden Hazard and according to reports, Chelsea will only consider letting the Belgian leave if City let Sergio Aguero move the other way in a potential swap deal.

The two Premier League stars have two years remaining on their contract, but if you ask me, City will perhaps have the advantage as they’ll get a player who’ll be entering his peak years as a player.

Why Chelsea shouldn’t let Hazard leave…

The reason why Chelsea haven’t been able to sustain a title challenge so far this season is because of the simple fact that they let go of two key players. While Diego Costa was still replaceable, Nemanja Matic was part of the Chelsea spine for years and filling his boots was always going to be difficult.

Similarly, Chelsea might struggle to replace Eden Hazard if they let him go. The Belgian has been at the heart of Chelsea’s creativity. He’s played an important role in their title-winning seasons and replacing him will take a while.

Though Aguero would be a brilliant acquisition, he’ll turn 30 this June and might only have a couple of good years left in him. Besides, Even if they manage to sign a brilliant forward, they’ll still need someone who can create up front.

Aguero won’t be best utilised unless you have the players around him, and at the moment, Chelsea don’t seem like they are a team who could achieve much without Hazard playing.

Advantage City if they sign Hazard

With Kevin De Bruyne showing he is the best midfielder in the world now, Man City could be unstoppable if they get Hazard. De Bruyne has adapted to a deeper role under Guardiola, showing the game-reading ability and the vision of, dare I say it, Andres Iniesta. So, he could run the show from midfield while Hazard plays slightly ahead of his compatriot.

Lest we forget, Gabriel Jesus is a pretty good player and City are more than capable of signing a younger alternative for Aguero.
