West Ham United receive a boost in chase of French goal-machine: Why Moyes should sign him

I recently read somewhere that David Moyes is the example of why most people do not come out of their comfort zone. The Scottish manager saw seen a certain downward spiral in his career ever since he left Goodison Park. Though his recent spell at West Ham has exuded confidence among his well-wishers, the former Manchester United manager is now looking to push on after a good start. With the transfer window open, he has the chance to add a few players and freshen the squad.

Javier Hernandez has been in and out of the team due to the hamstring trouble he suffered while with Mexico in the international break. Andy Carroll has given ample indications of immobility and lack of movement in the final third. Besides, he too is fairly injury prone.

In the midst of all this, Moyes wants to bring in a younger, swifter and quicker player who can set the ground running in London. Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has been linked with a move and with reports suggesting he could leave, the Hammers should do something about it.

Who is Dembele?

Dembele has had a pretty good run under Brendan Rodgers. The Frenchman has been an indispensable part of Celtic’s run to domestic dominance. The former PSG academy player moved to the Championship and did pretty well for the Cottagers after breaking into the first team. However, it was a bit of a surprise that he moved to Celtic instead of a Premier League side as there were plenty interested.

In hindsight, the move to Celtic has served him well as he has been chiselled well by Rodgers. A pretty clinical striker, Dembele is quick and has a bag full of tricks up his sleeve.

A good option?

Dembele has shown time and again that he can be useful and very productive up front. His movement on and off the ball, the first touch, the prolificity would be welcomed at West Ham.

He has been scouted extensively by other clubs, but at West Ham, he will have the chance of playing regular football. He will not be starved of service, as he will be playing alongside the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic; able creative players. Javier Hernandez hasn’t had the impact many presumed to have. Although the hamstring injury sort of shackled him at the end of last year, he hasn’t hit his usual standards. So perhaps the Hammers do need another striker.
