According to a recent report by Sky Sports, Swansea City are keen on bringing Ajax attacking midfielder, Amin Younes, to the Liberty Stadium this month. Carlos Carvalhal is expected to make some additions this month to beef up his arsenal, considering that his side is placed rock-bottom in the league table and desperately need to start performing to have any chance of beating the drop at the end of the season.
Younes emerged through the youth ranks of Borussia Monchengladbach and was then elevated to their senior side. He was shipped out on loan for a season to FC Kaiserslautern and fared quite well there. Ajax were quick to monitor his talent and lured him to their ranks in the summer of 2015.
Lately, he has been handed very little opportunities to thrive. So far this season, Younes has made merely 9 appearances in the Dutch top-flight, scoring 1 goal and registering 1 assist in the process.
To gather more game time under his belt, he might look for an exit from Johan Cruyff Arena this month. He last played the full 90 minutes for the Lancers in their Europa League final defeat at the hands of Manchester United last year and considering that his contract expires at the end of the season, Ajax might cash in.
One of the most appealing aspects of Younes’ style of play is the manner in which he links up with his teammates on the pitch with his passes. He loves to create chances and his tuning with his fellow attackers is top notch which results in well-orchestrated counter attacks and moves.
He is very good at holding the ball and is an accomplished dribbler. The 24-year-old might not have the best aerial ability but given that he is someone who reads the game brilliantly and attempts to push the attacking endeavours of his side forward, he could certainly be a quality addition for any Premier League side.
Carlos Carvalhal might have picked up 4 points from his first 3 league games in-charge but that doesn’t take away the fact that they have a long way to go before they can afford to relax. So far this season, the Swans have looked bereft of creativity and flair in the middle and by signing Younes, they should be able to solve that. Besides, the German international will also offer competition for a place in Carvalhal’s starting line-up, which might help the manager to get the best out of his other attacking midfielders.
