Predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool lineup vs West Brom: Danny Ings to start?

After a disappointing afternoon at the Liberty Stadium last Monday, Liverpool return to action in the FA Cup. Jürgen Klopp’s side will take on West Brom and after that bad result against Swansea, perhaps the Reds need the home comfort of Anfield which they will have against the Baggies.

Liverpool will still be overwhelming favourites for the game and considering West Brom are battling for relegation in the league, manager Alan Pardew could be tempted into playing some of the fringe players to give their regulars a rest before the league game against Manchester City.

Liverpool have another potential banana skin fixture in Huddersfield away, so Klopp could continue with the rotation policy come Sunday. Here’s how the Reds could line up for the clash…

Defence

Simon Mignolet has been displaced as the no.1 keeper but the Belgian could get a run-out in the Cup games. He is expected to guard the goal come Sunday. Ragnar Klavan is out with an illness which means Dejan Lovren could partner record signing Virgil van Dijk at the back. Alberto Moreno is back in training, but might not be match fit, so we could see Andy Robertson continuing in the left-back role.

Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t featured for quite a while, so we could see Joe Gomez get a breather for the former.

Midfield

Jordan Henderson has returned to training and though he hasn’t had too many sessions, he is in line to start alongside Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum in midfield. Klopp would have loved to start with Adam Lallana who is being eased back into action, but, the midfielder will be out due to a muscular tear.

James Milner would have started the game as well had it not been for his dead leg which Klopp described as extremely ‘painful’ in his press conference.

Attack

Roberto Firmino has played quite a few games in the last month or so and needs to have a break. Danny Ings had a brief cameo against Swansea and could get the nod to lead the line. Dominic Solanke and Ben Woodburn could support the former Burnley start on the wide areas. Also, watch out for Daniel Sturridge who could play a part after returning to training.

The width will need to come from the fullbacks as neither Woodburn nor Solanke are players who can offer width and put in a cross.

It’s going to be a tough game as West Brom will sit back and hit the Reds o the counter. Lallana’s creativity could be key for the hosts are to progress to the next round.
