Crystal Palace close in on Premier League forward: The ideal striker for the Eagles?

As per one of the latest reports by the Express, Crystal Palace have supposedly agreed to sign Leicester City striker, Leonardo Ulloa, on loan for the rest of the season. The London-based outfit have apparently agreed to meet his wage demands of £60,000-a-week.

Crystal Palace, after a sluggish start to the season in the Premier League, have picked up their form and are much more consistent under the tutelage of Roy Hodgson. From being a side destined to go down a few months ago, they have made quite a decent progress of late and have climbed as high as the 13th spot in the league table with 25 points to their name in 24 league outings.

Their recent interest to sign Ulloa seems quite intriguing. Ulloa has been overlooked this season and it appears that he isn’t in Claude Puel’s plans. He has managed to accumulate merely 4 substitute appearances for the Foxes in the top flight this season and has failed to find the back of the net so far.

Although his current situation doesn’t seem to be quite encouraging, that doesn’t take away the fact that he is indeed a quality forward and certainly has the potential to ply his trade for a side like Crystal Palace. He might be surplus to the requirements of Leicester City at this point in time but Hodgson’s side should benefit from his impending arrival.

The 31-year-old is a pretty good finisher and he has the physicality to thrive in English football. He can also hold the ball really well up front and still has a couple of years of top-flight football left in him.

Under Hodgson, Palace have mixed their style of play though they are pretty direct in their approach. With Christian Benteke struggling to score goals – the Belgian has managed just one goal in 18 Premier League appearances – Palace need someone to take the goalscoring burden of their wide players and midfielders.

With a move to the Selhurst Park, the Argentine should be able to resurrect his career, for he is likely to get plenty of opportunities under Hodgson in the coming months. Ulloa won the Premier League title with Leicester City in their remarkable 2015-16 campaign and his entry into the ranks of Crystal Palace should aid in injecting some freshness into the team
