West Bromwich Albion linked with a move for Liverpool attacker: A good move by the Baggies?

Transfer story

Danny Ings is still pretty much a fan-favourite at Anfield and there have been voices raised regarding his inclusion in the playing XI. However, the forward is certainly way behind the pecking order and hence it is natural that he is seeking a move away this winter.

Ings’ spell at Anfield has been marred by injuries, so he has never been able to nail down a first-team place.

West Bromwich Albion are enduring a tough time this season. They are yet to win a single game under Alan Pardew and the manager is lacking options to field up front.

In a bid to strengthen their attack, they have been linked with Ings, according to reports.

Player profile

Danny Ings could have been a decent player had it not been for the injuries. His sidelining has seen the likes of Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge edge him to take the starting spots, though Sturridge himself has had an injury-ravaged spell, Ings simply hasn’t been able to challenge Firmino.

The former Burnley star is well capable of playing as the sole striker, the secondary striker. The English forward had a good spell with the Clarets and won the Championship Player of The Season with them in 2014. He then followed it up with a good spell in the Premier League, and in the summer of 2015, made a transfer to Liverpool.

In total, Danny Ings has made eight Premier League appearances for the Reds in the past two years. Now, although he is fit, Jürgen Klopp has no place for him on the pitch. Firmino has impressed with his goalscoring prowess and interlinking so far. Therefore, to get some valuable time on the pitch, a move away to West Brom would be great.

Real deal?

West Brom have scored a mere 14 goals in the 20 Premier League games so far. They have been lacking a natural poacher, a fox in the box for quite some time. Ings might be the perfect solution to their problems. Moreover, Ings’ aerial ability the tenacity will benefit their long ball and crossing through the wings approach.

Klopp would need to offload some players as the Reds have made some high-profile acquisitions and hence Ings could be sent out on loan, if not on a permanent deal. The player is 25-years-old and would enjoy the responsibility of leading the line for the Baggies and play more regularly.

Alan Pardew’s side will have to act quickly though as the likes of Stoke City, West Ham United and Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for the striker.

I could not resist commenting. Well written here!
