A Major Omission In Midfield? Predicted Liverpool Lineup To Face Leicester City

It is getting worse for Liverpool, who have now failed to win a game so far, after their thumping 4-0 victory over Arsenal at the end of the previous month. Dropping points against Manchester City and then Burnley did not go down well with the fans but their early exit from the League Cup against Leicester City was just too hard for the supporters to swallow.

However, they are back at the same place they faced defeat in the EFL cup, as they travel to the King Power Stadium this weekend, for a league fixture. The Reds cannot afford to drop any more points but will face a tough task against a side that has not lost in this fixture in the last four attempts. Here is the predicted lineup Liverpool might field for this tie:

Team News:

The Reds are still without English pair Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana, both of who are not too far away from first-team returns. Dejan Lovren missed the League Cup game and has not trained with the team. Mane is suspended and will miss the tie.

Expected lineup (4-3-3):

Defence:

Though Danny Ward was decent in the cup game, Liverpool and Klopp should shift back to Simon Mignolet, who remains the first-choice shot-stopper for the manager in the league. Cameroon star Joel Matip is expected to be back in action after sitting out of the League Cup and should be partnered by Klavan, with Lovren potentially missing out.

Alberto Moreno has tough competition from an exciting Andrew Robertson but the Spaniard should find a place in the starting XI this weekend. Trent Alexandre-Arnold is expected to fill in at right-back.

Midfield:

With Jordan Henderson doing no good to his reputation in the game earlier this week, he is expected to be dropped to the bench with German star Emre Can replacing him in the first team. He should be partnered by Georginio Wijnaldum and Philippe Coutinho, who will play as a part of the midfield.

This trio could add loads of mettle and creativity to the game, which could help Liverpool get a positive result for themselves.

Attack:

With Mane injured, Liverpool cannot afford to rest Mohamed Salah, who should start on the right flank in the attack. Brazilian star Roberto Firmino could get his chance to shine on the opposite flank while English striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to lead the attack for the side.
