Tottenham Hotspur Readying A £20m Bid For This English Sensation: The Right Man For Next Season?

Tottenham Hotspur are on their way to build on the success of the last season and turn the next term into a better one, as they look to become the Premier League Champions for the first time in the history of the competition. They are also well aware of the fact that they will be facing some of the biggest teams in Europe and are looking to build a strong team to compete against the same.

The Spurs are eyeing a good central defender who can play as a back-up for their Belgian duo in the heart of the backline, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. They are already in possession of the Austrian defender Kevin Wimmer, who has failed to impress during the last season at the North London club and might be offloaded in the summer.

Reportedly, the Argentine mastermind Mauricio Pochettino, who is presently the man in charge of Tottenham, is eyeing the England centre-back, Alfie Mawson, currently playing for fellow Premier League club Swansea City. The youngster has attracted a lot of praise from the fans of his club, in a season which has not seen many good performances from the Swansea players in particular.

The Tottenham manager has been one of the biggest admirers of the abilities of the 23-year-old and is looking to make him wear the colours of his club in the next season. Reportedly, a bid of £20 million has been readied by the Spurs to bring the talented defender into their squad in the summer transfer window.

The under-21 international also starred for his National team in the recently concluded under-21 European Championships in Poland and made a strong statement in the heart of the defence. Pochettino has always been known to be a man who is on the lookout for youngsters and nurture them in the right way, bringing the best out of them.

And his preference for English players has also brought him closer to the fan base and there is a strong connection between the fans and the players which is more organic and there is also a trust factor between the two which translates onto the field when the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli pair up to name a few.

It goes without saying that the Welsh club will look to do their best to keep hold of their prized player for the next season as well. However, with a big team like Tottenham Hotspur lurking to secure the signature of the 23-year-old, it will be quite tough for Swansea to tie down the young centre back at the Liberty Stadium this summer.
