Tottenham Hotspur Need To Spend £25m To Land This England International: A No-Brainer For Poch?

The 24-year old defensive star also managed to earn a call to the senior England side and could be a part of the team representing The Three Lions at the World Cup in Russia.

Keeping that in mind, the Riverside-based club has put a huge price tag on his head and want to retain him. However, if they do indeed have to let him go, they will want to surely cash in on him.

The interest for the high-quality player is quite huge, as he is wanted by a host of Premier League clubs, including the Champions themselves.

It seems that Conte has a liking for the star, whom he feels can add more quality to his current team at Stamford Bridge, while their north London rivals, Spurs want to add them to their squad, as well.

It seems that we can already see this heated rivalry develop, as the transfer season goes on and the fact that the confirmation by Boro that the player is available for £25m, is a major boost in the transfer saga.

The player has been sent away on loan to three other clubs, since 2010 and has made 140 appearances for them so far. He has scored thrice for them, during that time period, which means that he is not really a huge contributor up front or from set-pieces.

He definitely does have the experience and looks hungry to prove himself, though that will only happen if he can first earn a place in the starting eleven with Spurs if the move happens.

A total of 41 appearances in all competitions in the previous campaign, saw him play around 3420 minutes, which is around 80 minutes on an average, per game.

What he can bring to the team-

He does have a lot of years left of football still, which could be one main reason why clubs like Chelsea want to sign him, as he is not that highly priced as well. He is generally disciplined and is quite ambitious for success.

Hopefully, if he can focus on his football and improve under Mauricio Pochettino, he could develop into a huge star for the Londoners someday.

Only time will tell whether he moves to a bigger club or not, as he will now have the chance to make a name for himself and make it on time for the World Cup. From the point of view of Tottenham, they should probably welcome the signing, if they do have the option to.
