Tottenham Hotspur midfielder wants to remain in England if he moves this summer

Tottenham Hotspur’s 30 million pound mistake of last summer is likely to make a move this transfer window. Mousa Sissoko, who cost the club a record sum, has failed to live up to expectations – something many Newcastle United fans had predicted – and despite the fact that club needs depth, they could let him leave.

It’s not the ability that was in question when Sissoko move to North London from Newcastle upon Tyne, it was his consistency and the Frenchman did hardly anything to make it better.

Over the last few days, reports have emerged that Marseille could take a gamble on the Frenchman, even though he isn’t really that popular France despite his incredible performance in the Euro 16 that earned him a move to Spurs in the first place.

A latest report by Foot Mercato says that the versatile midfielder wants to remain in England if given the chance, which will be a blow to Marseille’s ambitions.

But why, Moussa?

Wages. While Marseille are a massive club in France, they are unlikely to match Sissoko’s current wages, which are north of 3.5 million GBP. So, it’s isn’t a surprise he prefers a stay in England as more clubs can afford him.

Although Les Olympiens were taken over by American businessman Frank McCourt last summer, they’d want assured quality for high wages and Sissoko hardly guarantees that with his hair-tearing displays.
